Traveling with things on counter

Just wondering how many travel with things on there counter tops? We have never done this for fear of getting bounced off. Ran into a couple that keeps their canisters, toaster and coffee maker on counter while traveling. Said they have never had a problem. Anyone else do this?

We put our stuff away also.
As for leaving small items, pens, pencils, screws, etc., your living dangerously, if one of those does move and ends up on the floor, there's a good possibility of ending up under the edge of a slide and causing all sorts of problems when moving a slide.

Glad to hear most of you feel the way my DH and I feel. We would not be comfortable leaving anything out. If we did I would just be worrying about it the whole time we were driving. We got on a really rough road on interstate this past year and I had a jar of spaghetti sauce in pantry and all we could think about was that jar breaking! So as soon as we got off that road we pulled over and checked and it had fallen over and so did the can goods but nothing broke! LOL Just not worth the stress for us!! We seriously just never even thought about anyone doing that till we talked to this couple. I was saying how I had to find space to put the stuff I sit on my counter in my cabinets while we travel, that's when they said "why". So thanks for the replies,it just made us think how many really do this.

The DW treats everything in her galley on wheels the way she used to with her floating galley. Secure everything. All it takes is that one wrong jolt to send stuff flying.

We always leave the toaster oven and coffeemaker on the counter and they never move. I do put the coffee carafe away, however.

When traveling in our DP we put stuff away. If we have to brake suddenly or to keep from being in an accident we don't want something behind us to be a missile coming forward and hitting us in the head.

Hubby purchased a product on e-bay called "Museum Putty". Its similar to children's clay he put small dabs under my knife holder, and toaster oven, in the kitchen, and used some to anchor some things in our bathroom, and bedroom. Its easy and re-usable if you need to change anything. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!!

Since I sometimes travel on bad or even non-road surfaces, I stow everything securely, including the dog.

Really depends on driver & road conditions. My wife is the driver and I NEVER leave anything on the counter. She enjoys pushing our rig through the turns right on the edge of losing it and our HTT interior often looks like a tossed salad

X3 - Seeing as my coffee pot is Keurig and cost about $60.00 why would I unnecessarily risk breaking it? That goes for anything else also, even if it's a $5 paper towel holder. I tend to avoid wasting my money needlessly.

With the MorRyde Independent Suspension, We leave the glass salt and pepper shakers, Keurig coffee maker, cutting board all on the counter.
We also leave water in the dogs bowl on the floor, and the floor surrounding it is dry when we stop.

We put everything up. Nothing on a flat surface, unless it's secured somehow. However, sometimes, we might have missed a pencil or ink pin, a cup, a screw driver, a flashlight battery; sometimes a dish or spoon is left out. Sometimes we forget to dump the water out of the dogs water bowl on the floor.

To my surprise ... every time ... nothing ever hits the floor! Even the dog's water bowl has never spilled over. Meanwhile, we've had cabinet doors fly open and things fly out. It doesn't make any sense sometimes.

So now we always use those really small bungie cords and bungie the cabinet doors shut before moving the trailer and we make sure everything is off the counter, kitchen, bathroom, and living room counter areas.

I once had a cabinet open on my class c pulling out of a driveway. A Corelle plate landed on the floor and shattered -only time ive seen that happen. We store everything.
