Never put much away or secured cabinet doors for years until one day ........... Fridge door flew open, huge milk jug flew out and burst all over the place, cabinet door flew open over really rough BLM land and several Corelle dishes shattered and chunks out of laminate floor. Took us 5 carpet cleanings (a combined 6 hours cleaning) repeatedly to hopefully get any "stinky in heat" residue of milk out. Think once bitten forever shy!
Fast forward to recent times: Fridge items secured on racks/in boxes within, with door locks on the actual fridge as well cabinets with heavy/breakable/spillable items mini bungee corded. Still tend to leave a heavy duty wooden cutting board, kettle and toaster on the side plugged in on short cords which move around a bit but never much. Everything else put where it lives and photos/art decor items "museum putty" secured for years.
