thought I read someplace that most accidents occur within 1 ? mile of home. I always assumed that it would be the back seat.

Accidents are far different then a coffee pot coming off the counter.
The coffee pot will most likely take some miles to wiggle it's way to the edge... where, like you stated above an accident can happen at any time.. Now wiggling around in the back seat is a whole different issue ! :C
an accident in a Class A could put that coffee pot thru your head.
