Trying to locate water leak

I have a Holiday Rambler Alumniscape 5th wheel travel trailer. I was cleaning out under the bed and noticed some of the items were wet. I felt the carpet area and it seems it is only wet in the center. This is also the area over the 5th wheel hitch. There are no water stains coming down the walls or in the cabinets above, just the wet carpet (centered) on the floor under the bed. Even-though the hitch is located under the overhang, is it possible that there could be a leak around it? Or could this leak be coming from another area?
  • I just read an article in the latest issue FMCA magazine about a new device used to locate leaks in rv's. Sounds like the best way to go.
  • (Some back ground) Good luck. I'll never own another Holiday Rambler. Our was sabotaged from day one. I couldn't find a leak until we took shower and wall apart. About 6 months after warranty ran out. Some employee must of had a bad day and wanted to pass it on. He stapled about 50 nails in shower water line. This was a new one around 1994? The shower line at that time to make it work, you pulled the little handle on bath spout. And water shut off at bath spout and water went into a pipe behind wall to shower spout, a shower line behind the wall, not like bath hose set up today. Only time it leaked was when you were in shower.

    Carpet wet in bedroom...
First...I would get it pressure tested. Pay close attention to horizontal trim work and around windows cap and lights.

"Or could this leak be coming from another area?

Yes and hard to find sometimes.
  • Does this trailer have a bedroom slide out or no slide with a North/South bed?
