You can do it once a year with the $35 Meguires Flagship wax or you can do it twice a year with $16 something else.

Me, I don't get any real pleasure from doing the work, even with my really nice Makita polisher. My time is worth something & it takes as long to go round once with the $16 stuff as the $35 stuff.

Seen the talk about using floor polish too. Then seen how much of a pain it is when it starts flaking. I kinda think floor wax is for floors not fiberglass RVs.

Oh well - choices. What is your time worth?

I would recommend a boat wax (fiberglass) that protects from UV versus a car wax (since cars have clear coat) that does not. Very simple.

5 years ago I used the Zep product. The front cap has not been touched and is looking good. I removed the Zep after 3 years because of flaking off and turning a yellow tint to our white surface. Now poli glow is and will continue to give a couple of coats each summer. Same job as the red max pro #3 or the same Zep products so the UV protection the poli glow has is the better product.

You can find it cheaper on Amazon and EBay, many times with free shipping. I recently bought a 32oz bottle from Amazon for $28. That size bottle should last me 2-3 years with 2 full waxings and an extra front cap application each year.
I have no experience with Zep. Some here like it but I believe in using a recommended product for any job I do.

I've used Nufinish in the past and it did a nice job, but took several hours each day for two days. I just finished doing it w/ Washwaxall and was really please with the results. Did the whole 5er in under 2 hrs and never had to use a ladder. The whole kit is a bit pricey, but the articulating pole applicator is a breeze to use. No more dragging a ladder around and making 30-40 trips up and down. I was very pleased with the results and had plenty of time left over to do the TV also.

I use Polglow on our 2001 alpenlite and 2 times in the last few day I was asked at happy hour how do you keep this fifth looking so new??

Ah ha! Now there are 2 Flagships. The cleaner wax & pure wax versions. Have not tried the Flagship cleaner wax but have tried the marine cleaner wax in the blue bottle. Didn't like it.

I am a cross brander. 3M marine cleaner wax first to get the light oxidation & last remains of bugs off the front cap. It is a 2-3 day job, with the help of the DW & a brute of a polisher by Makita, but it is a once a year job.

Sometimes I think the blotchy effect is from not using rubbing compound on the oxidized spots underneath before applying the wax. Thanks again to all who wrote.

The thing with the Flagship is the surface must be clean & free of oxidation. Flagship is a pure protectant, not a double job cleaner wax which does not last anywhere near as long as a protectant or pure wax product.

The Flagship I have is a cleaner/wax and according to Meguiars it is similar to #50 but has improve ingredients and recommended I try it. Dld see a Flagship paint polish / protectant online. Not sure how that would work.
