I'm towing fine with my combo which is with a
7000 lb loaded TH when we bring the golf cart. We camp mostly in the Sierra National Forest. I'll slow down to 45 mph on long grades 6% or better. Payload on my truck is 1850 lbs AS EQUIPPED. As it usually is on "1/2 ton" trucks, towing a TT or TH, you will reach payload capacity before max tow capacity. Find your payload cap and do the math for that first. Also, my In-Laws Tundra 5.7L Crewmax Platinum 4x4 did a fine job towing our TH, but felt a bit soft in the tail. During our last trip with it, I looked at the payload sticker... 1295lbs AS EQUIPPED. With the inlaws onboard, we were over by about their weight!

Yes, I have many years towing with small 4x V8's, the 4.7 rates out at 310hp@340lbs. torque...I'll never be close to the rated max tow weight, even this being a tow hauler and with us "loading" accordingly. Test hauled the unit on the weekend, with truck in the Tow/Haul mode, hauled trailer through a variety of terrain for over two hours, it pulled trailer quite well, sure speed was down on steep hills, but who's trailer doesn't, trans temp and shifting and rpm's were ok never over 1700-2000 rpm.

The trucks chassis won't have any problems carrying that trailers hitch weight but IMO your not going to like towing performance with a 7k trailer with a very small 4.7 gas engine.

Post around on other RV websites and see what other 1/2 ton truck owner have to say....... who have actual experience with a 4.x small gas engine towing a 7k trailer.

Seems a little light for a 26' TH.
My 21' Ragen with 1/4 tank of water has a tongue weight of 1100 lbs and is around 7k lbs with no toys and basic camping suppies. THs also pull like a brick.
A friend towed my TH with his Tundra which is close to the power of the HEMI. It did OK, but he definatley knew it was there.
With airbags and good tires it sat level but was over his GVW.
My 15 Ram 3500 Cummins handles it well.
Bigger truck or smaller (16-18') TH is my recommendation.

I agree. Your truck will be screaming (high rpm) just to maintain speed on level ground. Even a Hemi will have a hard time.

That 4.7L small V8 will be on it's knees even with the dry weight. Been there and let me tell you you will not be looking forward to even approaching a small hill, even here in pretty flat Southern Ontario, Northern Ontario - forget it. Loaded up she'll be in second gear screaming just to stay with traffic, if loaded on a hill you'll never even approach the speed limit more than likely.

That's not enough capacity to support that trailer.

That 7150 max tow number, does'nt include any weight capacity for aftermarket accessories, passengers, pets, or cargo in or on the truck. It was calculated with a driver only. Any of these things added to the truck, reduce that max tow number and available payload capacity, pound for pound. A weight distributing hitch,will eat up to 100 lbs, by itself. If you add 650 lbs of people, accessories, and cargo, the true max tow number is 6500 lbs. That trailer will easily exceed 6500 lbs.

Besides the truck numbers you have posted, you also need to look at it's payload, GVWR, and axle weight ratings.

Forget dry weights...no one tows rv dry. Use GVW of unit and be more realistic about the weights. Do the math and some common sense to figure if your truck is up to task toing the TH you want to purchase. You would possibly go over your trucks GCWR...
