Which between wheel chocks??

In researching these I'm finding basic plastic ones for $20/side up to elaborate metal clamping ones for $50+/side. Do the cheapies work just as well? I'm not opposed to spending the $$ if I need to. I'm somewhat wondering about theft since they're just sitting there.

IF, you can find any used, Rotochok are the best thing. Not cheap, but the best.

With them installed, if you forget to take them off before pulling the trailer out, you won't pull the trailer out.

But they went out of business, when both of the couple that founded and made them passed away. I saw a company that was trying to collect and resell used ones, but I can't come up with it now.

Both of those 2 options are out of the question. Rotochoks are a product that actually works as advertised.

it's really difficult to get that firewood jammed in between the two tires.

I most often just use one of these, which I cut to the perfect length. Unless I am on very rough terrain, when this won't fit. I carry a couple of single wedge chocks too for those special times.

Never had any use for the between wheel type. A little trailer wiggle just doesn't bother us, if we ever had any.

These have always worked well for me.

No they didn't. It made one of your tires fall off!

What ever holds your trailer where you want it. I used firewood for years. As the years go by and the older I get, the more I want my trailer to stay steady. I dont like all the bouncing and rocking so this is why I bought the fancy expensive store bought ones.

Not at all! What ever works best for YOU is what counts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Myself, I don't transport firewood nor is it always available when I'm setting up camp.

Not if you really want it to be in the same place you parked it next morning. ๐Ÿ™‚

3oaks,

In the Northwest we have a retail store called TAP Plastics that will cut any size plastic you need. They are indispensable for professional putterers like myself.

Hi Durb,

Where did you buy the pieces of ABS plactic? That was another option I thought about if my fabricated hardwood side plates didn't pan out.

I too changed trailers and my RotoChoks were too small. I bought 4 pieces of ABS plastic for shims, drilled and counterbored them and screwed them onto the original choks with #14 self tapping screws. Look good and work good. I would attach a picture but I can't figure out how!

Do these chocks work if you have one wheel up on a 2x8 and not the other? There are times when I level the trailer and only have one wheel on a board and not the other

As with any ground level in-between tire chock - no. I'd never elevate just one tire in a pair anyway.
