Will RV parks have a problem with this toyhauler?

We are hoping to buy a new toy hauler from Lakota. This company normally makes horse trailers so their toy haulers look very similar to horse trailers (but without the horse stalls of course). All trailers made by Lakota are RVIA sealed.

Anyway -- before we purchase, we wanted to see if RV parks would have an issue with a trailer like this. We plan to live in this rv, staying at parks around the country for 4-6 months at a time, while we work in the area. The back garage area will give us space for my husband's motorcycle.

Just wondering how often people see trailers like this at rv parks... they are more like car haulers with living quarters. And if we should expect any complaints from rv parks since it doesn't look like a typical fifth wheel trailer. It WILL have a RVIA seal so I'm hoping there will be no issues.

We have not ordered it yet -- but here are some pictures of what it will look like.

Without horses - the only thing that *should* matter - is if a campground has an adequate space for it.

Since it's a Toy Hauler - why not ask on the toy hauler forum here..;)

Also, the folks on the Excapees MDT & HDT forums tow long and heavy 5th wheels - and some *do* have horses.

The HDT forum also has a user guide of campgrounds capable of handling those long trailers - that forum members have visited.

I have a Work and Play 34FK and it looks better than some of the older travel trailers or 5th wheels in the parks I have been in.
Prissy RV resorts like mentioned above might object, but you are not going there. Enjoy.

One of my friends had a trailer a lot like it. Show car trailer with living quarters. He never had a problem anywhere.

Thanks for all the replies! Yeah, my husband and I both love this toy hauler but we weren't sure if it would be a problem later on. We camp in a small rv now, using mainly state campgrounds along the way, so we aren't that familiar with rv parks. But once we start to full-time, then I know we will have to rely on them a lot more.

Again - thanks for all your advice and help! Much appreciated!

Thank you for showing a picture of the 5th wheel toy hauler you want to purchase. Last week we went to an RV show looking for a 5thwheel toy hauler and at the show I mentioned to my spouse "I wonder if they make horse trailer 5th wheels with camper section and toy hauler instead of horse stalls. Spouse thought I was nuts. So your post came at perfect time. Is it possible for you to send me a private message telling me a link for one like you showed. I did internet search but didn't have any luck finding them. Thank you!

I agree. Looks like a race trailer. I've seen a few on the road, but not in our CG. I doubt they would object.

I dont think they care what you say is in a horse trailer. It may depend on what it is designed for as mentioned here under speaking of trailers second paragraph. Again, just worth mentioning and I have no plans on buying one so I didn't research extensively.

Maybe add some graphics to the side to look a little less "horse trailer-ish"? I doubt most would mind either way, looks like a nice trailer.

I have seen those rigs in both private and public rv parks. Should not be an issue.

Is it considered a horse trailer?

I didn't research it in depth but I believe California considers horse trailers commercial and requires a commercial lic. I know someone who tows one with an rv interior and hasn't been stopped but just thought I would mention it.

And your recourse would be???? It's their sandbox and their rules.

You don't think they'd get laughed at for refusing a showroom restored 40's Airstream, or the like? Maybe even lose some business? I just find it stupid that parks have a rule like this; should be on appearance and state of repair, not age.

Lyle
Should be but not really the case and I really doubt the one or two customers they MIGHT lose turning you away would matter to them. Their rules,

Well, I think motorhome-only RV parks are silly, too, but I don't try to pull into them.
