A Summer R V park

We are full time RVERS and are looking for a R V park like you find in South Texas and Apache Junction Az.We like to get to gather and play cards,dominoes and other boord games,

I from northern Illnois and what to spend part of summer here.What I'm finding in northern Illinois and Wisconsin there are no Full time friendly rv parks. daily & weekly rates are high Monthly rates
are 650. and up plus electric. Most campgrounds cater to families, weekenders & seasonals. This is my first summer full time and I have a lot to work out where to spend my summers in this area

In Minnesota there is a new park called Pokegama Shores. You have contract for the entire season April to October. It's not as large as the parks down south. Most people use it as a weekend lake cabin. But there are a few retired folks there all summer. It could be good place to make some close friends. There are a few places like this but you have to look hard.

The OP is a full-timer so is probably not traveling with children. I doubt he's talking of memberships. He's comparing the Rio Grande Valley and the Phoenix area which are typically 55+ parks.

Escapees has Co-op parks and Rainbow parks and both have plenty of room for seasonal visitors, not just short-term. They have meal functions and typical clubhouse activities as does the south Texas/Phoenix area parks.

We are Escapees, and one thing to remember - the parks mentioned are Co-ops associated with Escapees, not RV parks per se.

Lots are owned by individual members and each has basic rules about stays, etc.

Those tend to be mostly people who live there. Don't travel a lot. Though in our experience there are always several lots available for short-term stays. We are always welcomed and included in daily activities immediately when we visit and Escapee's Co-op.

The type of park the OP is looking for IMHO are membership type resorts. Those focus on more amenities for a regular customer base. Unlike the resorts in the RGV and similar areas in Arizona, California and Florida - summer membership resorts or regular RV resorts - tend to have activities focused more for kids. Folks with kids travel in the summer.

I usually don't mind being around a bunch of kids, after all our future camping friends have to start somewhere/ sometime, but some folks don't like the level of activity at a park with a bunch of young kids or teenagers.

Most full-timers sit a spell during the winter and then in summer travel to explore or visit family and friends. They move around. We haven't run across many parks in the northern states that you might have in Texas or the Phoenix area for winter stays. Summer travelers are families on vacations. They don't stay in one place.

Have you looked into the Escapees RV Club? They have two parks in California, one in Oregon and one in Washington that have clubhouses for activities.

How about a little more info, like what town(s)/state(s) are you looking to stay in? Or just anywhere in the U.S.?

Assuming your talking about going north to escape the heat. I think you will find that most parks in the north only have a few months to make their money, so they are concentrating on summer vacationers, etc., not on things that typical 'snowbirders' look for in the winter.
