Any FT bike riders?

About to sell the ranch to FT and I have a RV weight problem. I need to make a decision on carrying a bike repair stand or rollers. If you ride a lot what do you or would you carry?
  • I assume you mean motorcycle? We have a Goldwing and I gave up my bike lift when we sold the house. Just didn't think I could afford the weight. When I replace tires, I have to use the dealer now, but am able to pull the rear tire myself saves a few dollars. I do oil changes, brakes, etc myself, but the Wing has a center stand. Have fun....you'll love full-timing!

Why do you want either one?

If you need the stand because of physical limitations, then bring it. You will certainly be doing repairs :). You could consider mounting a swing-out stand to the outside of your rig -- or choose a bike rack that will double as your repair stand!

I can't see much point in rollers. You can ride your bike outside :).
  • I brought my bike stand and do all my riding outside. Didn't really see a need for rollers or trainer. Between having the road bike and Mountain bike leaves options for riding. I do carry all the needed tools so no need to take into the shop as of yet.

If its to cold to ride out side then I'll go for a run instead... or that could mean time to relocate to some place a bit warmer.
  • Bike stand is terrific convenience and I wouldn't want to leave it behind.
I've never owned rollers, but my trainer gets no use whatsoever. I would leave it behind.
To be honest neither of these items represents much weight so doing without them isn't helping your RV weight problem much! Bring them along, you'll look like a total pro when you show up to bike events.

    A couple new tire tubes.

For trails, I use thornproof tubes AND tube liners AND goo.
  • Toss the rollers. Follow the sun and stay in T-shirt and shorts weather where you can ride outside year round. That is the benefit of being FT.
