what about those oil field workers that "moved" to ND for months on end. do they eventually have to re-tag their vehicles with ND plates, etc?

The thing you have to be aware of is how Iowa defines "resident" for licencing purposes. Looks like there's a ninety day and you're an Iowan rule. The language in the law about "shell companies" is actually aimed specifically at those Montana LLC's that so many folks are using. South Dakota's paperwork is different I think.

It sounds like you travel out of State so you're probably not in Iowa for ninety days at a time- seems like you'd be O.K. Folks must have "vacation homes" there, right?

I could do an extended stay, but this would allow me to get rid of the headache of having a year round storage unit.

I and many others own houses in two states. I can only be a resident in one.

I don't think that article applies to me. I am not an Iowa resident using a company to hide my RV. I'm a South Dakota resident that needs a place to crash in Iowa a few weeks or at most a couple months out of the year.

Rent the place in the name of one of your Iowa relatives.
