Texas, Florida or South Dakota. Although SD has fallen out of favor recently due to the poor health care provider selection.

South Dakota for us. No vehicle inspection and no proof of insurance. Can renew registration online and tags mailed to you anywhere.

SD for us. Only downside is that you do have to return every 5 years to renew your drivers license

Florida. No state income tax, no personal property tax on cars and RV's, no vehicle inspections (other than proof of mileage when registering), no special license requirements for driving a motorhome and car/driving licenses can be renewed by mail.

Sometimes "no" is a good word. :)

Insurance is more expensive, but there's no deductible for glass (windshields).

Texas for sure! No income tax and RV friendly at least in Polk county.

SD here also...No inheritance tax, no state income tax, no property tax on the RV, plates and registration via mail, no special licensing for required for motorhome or rv tow driving, no vehicle inspection and lower excise tax on vehicle purchase(4%). That was enough for us.

Wherever our RV is currently parked is our home.

. When we moved from Indiana to Florida in 2005 and changed our vehicle registration to Florida, they did have to physically confirm the stated mileage for the Florida title. Other than that, no inspection.

IF you have a Federally Complaint DL you can renew ion-line or by mail once every 10 yrs. Certain conditions apply.

We were happy 'Texans' for 18 years. Our address was through the Escapees RV Club.

Regarding Texas inspections: You do NOT have to return for inspections - EVER. All you do is check the box as traveling full-timers.

However, if and when you return and stay in the state, then you need the very easy inspection. No big deal.

Each of the major 3 states: Texas, Florida, South Dakota have pluses and minuses depending on YOUR circumstances. Everyone needs to do the homework according to your needs.

I will state that South Dakota is not recommended for those under Medicare age. Medical insurance that you can travel with is very difficult to obtain.
