Hey all, it has been a long time since I have posted. I am goin through a "life change". I have weighed plenty of options in terms of my setup. 2012 Dodge Drw 3500 4x4 megacab as TV. I am going to sell current Toy Hauler and upgrade/switch to a short 5er TH and also sell toys and upgrade RZR. I have many questions regarding RV parks/places to setup camp with just myself and my pitbull pup. Spare me with the breed jargon. I know, it's not going change...my pup is traveling with me. I am looking to travel to washington state-Pugent sound, Colorado, maybe Austin,Tx. I have never done anything like this except for military. That was ions ago. Keeping my house as tax home base, and if it works out I might just keep going while I am youngish...Any positive input would be greatly appreciated. I am still at least 8mos out Fyi. Brooks

You may want to be spared the breed jargon but campground and RV park owners definitely want to hear about it. Per their insurance policies, many will refuse admittance to pit bulls and their owners.

So, if you are a nurse, you work 12 hour shifts?Are you talking about full timing in your new rig?If so, are you planning on leaving your pup alone, in the rig for 12+ hours a day at a campground? FYI... Most campgrounds do not allow that, and most have breed restrictions. I sure your pup is a sweet little lapdog, but that doesn't change the prejudice most parks have against pits.

Yes I am going seasonal where I work. Leaving for the summer in a 5er on travel nurse assignments.

Hi! Actually, these were my posts. Sorry if I came off rude or harsh. I get very defensive when it comes to the welfare of animals. My apologies. I am a dog nut!
I am still working. Looking at the possibility of getting a stabilization pin put in my left hip and having a cage placed on my L 4-5 spine, so at this time, kinda stressed, and in a lot of discomfort but getting by. Trying to explore all my options for treatments vs surgery. Have ANOTHER Dr appt tomorrow am to check out more options and get more info. Thanks for asking. Much appreciated. Sorry again.

Yes sir, optimal weather is what we are searching for during the summer. Went to boondocking as that sounded better than dealing with rv parks or anyone who has problems with the breed specified. Giving up my dog is not an option. Boondocking is now my first choice after many hours of research on this subject. Texas would definately be on my list if I take this full time. The 1st year out before selling/renting the house out will be a trial run. Lets see how it goes. Most of this research has revolved around being able to bring my dog along. Unlike most people, I can find a travel nurse position and during offtime;explore for 13wks. Please be kind and offer any good advice. I have been on this forum for a long time and offered my valued opinion to many others.

Good Luck. I am a retired RN and also a dog lover. Pit Bulls are nice dogs who are loyal to their owners. They have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous people who have taken advantage of their loyal nature and strength.
But, the sad fact is that they have a reputation that has made it difficult to stay in places other than your home when in the company of your dog.

My biggest concern would be how you are going to manage being gone up to 14hrs a day when living in a 5th wheel by yourself. Perhaps someone else is going with you?

Whatever...best of luck. I did a bit of travel nursing and it was awesome.

I saw this thread and had to take a look.

I thought you were looking for a nurse to travel with you. Not sure if you had some medical reason for it or just enjoyed the occasional sponge bath
