Full timing locations

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any advice for finding property to rent to live on. My wife and I would ideally love to find a farm with a lot of land that we could live on for a fee. I'm aware of the legality here, but if anyone has had any luck please post about it. It seems like an easy way for someone to make some extra money without doing much work, and in the country code enforcement doesn't stop by daily like in the suburbs.

I've checked Craigslist, but wanted to know if there are any better avenues. In the San Francisco bay area there are hundreds of farms but I can't seem to find one interested.
  • Maybe look into WWOOFing? I don't know how it would work if you were looking for a place to stay and not volunteer. But, I do know the WWOOFing community is pretty friendly.
  • We got tired of the generator noise at our favorite types of campgrounds so we ended up buying our own unimproved property (along the Oregon coast) and we spend up to about 7 days at a time dry camping there. The zoning does not allow us to stay there all summer but it pays for itself in the per day use we enjoy. We will stay there about 4 different times per summer and enjoy it tremendously.

Zoning is the most restrictive issue in looking for a place to stay, especially on the west coast.
  • Did you try FARMandRANCHjobs.com or a similar site? Maybe you can find a part time position..
