We are going to close on our house on 15 December, and will be fulltiming for some time. We currently have Progressive and I will be checking with them. I would appreciate any recommendations for reliable insurance companies offering fulltimer coverage. Thanks.

Over on the RV Groups on Facebook this week, two people with BlueSky got a $400 increase on the fulltime premiums.

Not sure if it's a trend or if it's just BlueSky.

I also use National Interstate, but have only been with them for less then 2 years. Got it through Miller's in Oregon. As someone else stated Miller's is very RV friendly and is an independent agency.

Make sure you tell the insurance company that you are full-timers. It makes a difference. If you don't, you could get quoted the wrong rate and maybe find out you're not covered if you have a claim.
The difference is that your rig is used all the time when full-timing as opposed to maybe just weekends during the summer and fall and the rest of the time, it's in storage. So it's logical the rate will be higher.

But part of the reason for the higher price is the liability coverage that comes with a full timer policy. It is similar to the liability coverage you would have if you had a homeowners policy.

Two years ago we priced full timers insurance out with several companies. Many companies will not insure full timers. Progressive was about the best coverage and the cheapest. We started thinking maybe they could do better for us on our vehicles so we had them give us an estimate. They provided better coverage at a lower deductible for about 30% less.

Progressive gets my vote all around.

We domicile in SD.

We have had National Interstate on the truck and trailer for over ten years. Full replacement on the trailer. Use to have it on the truck, but the price went up to high on it do to its age on full replacement. We dropped that on the truck and it's even below what it was before the raise. Have had a two claims. Taken care of right away.

Now the car was on National Interstate that went up too. Switched to Progressive and have been very happy with them. Have had some glass chips on the windshield from flying rocks and those were filled, no deductible on glass.

EDIT: One other thing if we change companies on the truck and trailer we will lose the total replacement on the trailer.

I do agree with Tech Writer. Get an umbrella policy.

Thank the Texas Insurance Commission for that.

We used SD as Domicile---looked into changing our address to TX.

National Interstate asked if we were sure we wanted to do that.
WHY?
Insurance rate TX vs SD--------doubled on truck and 50% increase on 5vr.

Are you keeping TX residency?

Except when we had National Interstate IN TX and the price went up, we shopped around and got a significantly lower price- and we were still in TX so that reason didn't hold true for us.

We found Farmer's for our RV for fulltime....have had State Farm for our auto's for 35 years, but no coverage for full time RVer's. I don't know about cheap rate....ours is 700.00 a year. It's our first year, so nothing to compare with....:)

X3 on what USMC46 said, we had National Interstate for 6 years, then a significant rate increase. We signed up with Blue Sky 2 years ago, no claims with either.

I went through Miller RV Insurance.

They aren't tied to any insurer which gives you lots of options.

I'd also suggest a Personal Liability (or "umbrella") policy since you're selling your house.
