We chose to purchase health insurance through our state exchange because it was approximately $600.00/month less than the COBRA offered by my husband's employer. This was practically the same policy but the deductibles were higher but still less than what the annual cost for the COBRA would have been. We pay BCBS monthly...no one else.
What many fail to realize is that most employers are not providing health insurance once you retire. That ended many years ago with the exception of some companies and the positions one retired from.
When I hear people bash the ACA, I wonder if they have ever checked it out, do they have medicare or insurance through a former employer or even have insurance. Some of us need the ACA because of pre-existing conditions. I have no desire to be one of "those" uninsured that take from the taxpayers.
I think it is important to remember that medicare has been tweaked for years since it began. So why not the ACA?
