Oh really? I went online and changed my address on my drivers license to my PMB in Green Cove Springs and the DMV sent me my new license and my wife's. Maybe you aren't using Florida as your state of domicile.

We went from bi-weekly to once a month after a couple of years. Even that is sometimes too often as it's mainly Junk. Now our DD is doing it for us, so don't know how often we'll need it shipped.

It was just announced on the Escapee forum that TX has o.k.'d a change for their registration/inspection process. If you're not in the state at the time of registration/inspection just call and you'll be excused. When you do return you'll have a short period of time for getting the inspection done. Polk County, home of the Escapees RV Club has definitely stated that they will abide by the new ruling. Yea Escapees....that's why you're tops!

OP...let me try to clarify for you...we as fulltime RVers are DOMICILED in SD, as we have NO actual residence anywhere. We are property owners in TX but have never stayed there on a longterm basis and therefore have never claimed it as our residence. For tax purposes and many other financial issues, etc. you must have a connection to one location, and one location only.

States like TX, SD and FL make that easy for fulltimers to do, i.e, to claim SD as your domicile you only need to show proof of staying one night in the state (such as RV park or hotel receipt)...see definitions below:

DOMICILE - In law, domicile is the status or attribution of being a permanent resident in a particular jurisdiction. A person can remain domiciled in a jurisdiction even after they have left it, if they have maintained sufficient links with that jurisdiction or have not displayed an intention to leave permanently (i.e., if that person has moved to a different state, but has not yet formed an intention to remain there indefinitely).

RESIDENCE - the place where one actually lives as distinguished from one's domicile or a place of temporary sojourn

They will get something done. There is big oil money behind getting it corrected for all of the oil services companies and trucking outfits that are currently in ND. Not to mention the state rep and state senator for the Livingston area don't want to loose 10,000+ constituents.

Yes, the worst case scenario could occur, so you can go ahead and tell everyone how awful Texas is and encourage everyone to use Arizona as their fulltiming domicile.

But as it stands, it could mean that you would have to return to TX for vehicle inspection & registration, right?

My point is . . . if someone is considering TX as their domicile, they may want to wait to see what happens with this law before making a final decision.

Since the state is now working on the problem and haven't posted how the exceptions will be handled, no one can tell you what will happen. And if they don't get it worked out, Escapees will lose a lot of customers with some moving to Florida and some to SD, just depending upon what there needs are. There may even be one or two that will move to Arizona, though I highly doubt it.

Again, I'm not sure why you are so angry about where others live. I get that you think Arizona is great - we love it in the winter and spend 3-4 months there. But for most people using AZ as their domicile while fulltiming just doesn't work.

So far the mail services I've used have worked just fine.

Are you going to tell us what would happen to RVers who domicile in TX if the TX new vehicle registration goes into effect next March?

Most states require if you spend more than 30 days in state you must get that states drivers license and plates. Does that include if your in an RV park?

We will spend maybe 4 to 5 months in Arizona and I don’t want to be hassled by the cops with out of state plates.

Can you guys clear this up for me?
