Hitting the Road Full Time

In late August I will be leaving the charms of Minot ND (not soon enough I might add) to Full Time.

I will take the month of September to reach Arizona, spending time in Colorado, Yellowstone and Monument Valley on the way, spend a month IN Arizona (Tucson) and in November leave for the Baja where I will spend the next few months. I intend to end in La Paz before turning back north again.

With the arrival of Spring I will head back into the the States.

This is the second time I have tried to "Retire". In the past I have usually ended up with a business or two or more and working 12 - 15 hours a day...so this time I am hoping to just workamp at least once a year just for fun.

We will be having a couple of big yard sales to divest ourselves of all the stuff we have acquired in the past two years since we returned from SE Asia, that we really dont need to haul around with us.

So we look forward to a more relaxing pace and time to reflect, hike, bike, kayak, read, contemplate the beauties of life and the National Parks, the Baja and good food, fine wine and some new friends along the way.

I am hoping to follow up with some reports from the road and maybe even a blog (but God Knows just what the web needs is one more travel blog 🙂 )

I hope to meet some of you along the way. The drinks are on me.

Roy&Lynne: We have found during our full-timing years that many more women consider doing it first than men. After the women 'plant the seed' the men come around. That happened with us, too! 🙂 Good luck!!

I'll bet it's Roy! 🙂

Yep, but we are going on an extensive trip in Nov, and hoping to be gone for months. Maybe that will either convince him or me, one or the other

Have you RVed in Baja before? We just took an RV tour in Feb./March and the highway, Mex 1 is real narrow in places. WE went all the way to Cabo. I hit drivers side mirrors with a garbage truck just south of Loreto, BCS both doing near 80 KPH. The people are friendly and there isn't any Low Sulfur diesel in BCS. Just a heads up.

Have fun.

Jeff

Thanks yes I am familiar with the Baja. I drove that road back in 1975. And in fact did the first part down the east coast from San Felipe in a 72 Volkswagen camper van. It is MUCH improved and wider now.

Also I am quite comfortable driving my truck and trailer on narrow, windy, mountain or pretty much any other kinds of roads so that doesnt really worry me too much.

But thanks for your heads up.
