Ideas for 3 cats?

Ok the first year we went full time we ended up with my daughter's cat. It did not like traveling at all. Had to lock it in the Bathroom. It got the window open and tried to jump at 65. Then at the campgrounds the squirls would torment it. We did have an interesting event in Mt. We had a huge Red Tail Fox come into
camp and get up on the pic nick table the cat got let out and the fox freaked out
and took off. Got back to Western Wa and told daughter to take her cat.
Now have two Chi's and life is much better. Oh I just can't resist this (google)

I don't recall saying it is wrong to have pets...as long as it is someone else having them.

Those of us who have pets, whether at home or one the road are not slaves to them, nor are we abusing them! At either location they are our beloved companions and dear friends. "Freedom" means we are free to have animal companions and the pet is free to be with us! We love them and they love us!

I currently am allowed to fulltime with my owner. He has trained me to protect him, putting him in his crate, whenever the slides are moving, at fuel stops, etc. Otherwise, he trusts my driving enough that he sleeps on the sofa while on the road. Once we arrive at a cg, back in the crate while I setup (he doesn't help) He has trained me to to take him on harness/leash walks around the cg. He knows "let's go home", and heads back to the rv (if he feels like it)He has escaped 2x's in 3 yrs - both times he was so surprised that he just stopped and looked around, allowing me to catch him. He is microchipped. Some things my cat has taught me; try short trips, experiment w/crates/litterbox placements. I have secured my sliding screens with electrical tape, and used door screening to cover open dash access under the driver side. Until you try some rv travel with your 3 cats, you will not know how they will react.

We travel with 3 cats. For the most part, they get along. We have 2 litter boxes. When we started traveling in the RV, they started out in a large dog kennel - all together. After we get on the road I'll open the crate door & one of the kitties, Katrina, pops out. She likes to come & sit in my lap & look out the window while we travel. Our big boy cat, Pas, likes to stay in the kennel & only comes out when we stop. This is any stop, for gas, rest or for the night. He immediately wants his food & water made available. And of course, it is.

Katrina is the only one who has "escaped" out the door. Thankfully, it has only been when we have been at a campground. She bolts under the RV, just out of arm's reach. So, one of us will get a broom & scoot her to the other human. Since then, what we have done to help alleviate any of them wanting to bolt out the door is a spray bottle with water. When we know we're going in & out the door a lot, the bottle is sitting on the steps & we can easily spray right through the screen if needed. No more escapes.

Cats can easily squiggle out of a harness if they want to.

You need to cover the bottom half of your screen door with hardware cloth or plex and, especially important, make sure it positively latches. We use a turnbutton-type window latch pop-riveted to the aluminum screen door.

Make sure the window screens can't be slid aside.

We bought a couple of collapsible pet crates we use when there's any concern about the cats scooting out the door or people leaving the door open.

If you're like us, a new home is not an option. We don't full time but are retired and take long trips. We started with four cats but we are down to three now. I think you will find that it will be much easier than you think. The cats will find their own areas of comfort during travel. One of ours finds it in DW's lap. While parked we have a folding "playpen" so they can have some outside time. The squirrels in Yosemite would actually walk up to their playpen and shake their tails at them. Drove the cats crazy, but they enjoyed it. We have a 32" C so the litter box gets moved to the cab between the seats at night and in the bedroom next to the bed during the day. We got one of the plastic storage bins at Walmart and cut a "U" shaped entry into it for a litter box. The only problem that we have is the cats like to go from window to window at night watching whatever animals happen to be in the area. But they're enjoying themselves so it is all right.
Go for it. I think you will enjoy having your cats with you. We surely do.

Sounds like full time. If cannot go with you, then a permanent solution should be found. New home would be best.
