We would like to get some feedback on the services provided by Escapees, America's Mailbox, Dakota Post, or any other services used by full-timers. What works? What doesn't work? Good experiences and bad ones, too.

We hardly get any paper mail anymore, but use Your Best Address in Sioux Falls SD. Prior to that we used a service in FL for a few years. No complaints with either and cost is basically the same. There's only a few dollars difference between any of them. Our cost is $10 mo plus the actual postage cost to have our mail sent. We set ours up to receive only when we make a request that way we can be sure we are at a location for a few days to receive it.

We used Escapees mail service - the cheapest plan - for approximately 20 years and never a problem getting the mail timely. It was sent Priority Mail and usually received by Day 3 via General Delivery as a SMALL local post office. Alaska took 5 days.

Look up the 3 noted companies and compare them side-by-side as to what you want. Nowadays folks get very little mail. You can delete the junk mail so you receive absolute none. Other things can be done online or using AutoPay for bills.

I am going to take OP's question a bit further. I understand that Escapees offers much more, but Mail Service is a separate issue. I am hesitant to use any of these common ones as I plan to keep my residence in my current state. (not going into that here, but I have researched and it makes sense for me).

Please share experience on the mail services... Do their costs come up to about what they say to expect on their web sites? Are they really good about getting mail to right place in a timely manner from request? Do you have problems with special requests? Is it easy to see what mail you have? Determine what to have forwarded or shredded?

Two of the ones you mentioned are only mail forwarding services. Escapees is much, much more for full-timers. They also have a good forum. Get involved in the Club and you'll meet some wonderful people who will be life-long friends. We surely did. Oh... and their mail forwarding service is very reasonable compared to others and is excellent in every way.

Started with Alternative Resources back in '02. The owner retired and sold the company and the name was changed to Dakota Post.We have been with them ever since. We will stay with them because it is such a pain to "move" to a new address.

Choose your new address with the idea that you will be there for a long time. Not saying that we are unhappy with Dakota Post, which we are, just don't plan to jump to another mail service easily.

Mail Forwarding Services for FT RVs are in the business if handling/forwarding mail in a timely/efficient manner.

Have never read ANY postings about ANY of the ones (or others) listed

We used Alternative Resources (Sioux Falls, SD---now DakotaPost) when we first went FT....great service/never an issue
Changed several years later to Americas Mailbox---Box Elder, SD (Rapid City) cause we 'moved'

Escapees originally was in TX (we didn't use them cause of vehicle insurance prices)
They now have services in SD and FL

Remember...Mail Forwarding Companies are "a registered Commercial Mail Receiving/Forwarding Agent"
Mess up to often and folks won't use them and WILL bad mouth them

Check them out...compare pricing, services etc
Then pick the one that fits YOUR needs
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Howdy!

Totally agree with above. Weโ€™re Escapees Fulltime class of 2007. Been using the Escapees mail forwarding service about a year before going fulltime. They provide a great service and weโ€™ve never had a problem with the service. As mentioned they offer a lot more than just mail service.

Mail Forwarding Service is just one of many things that Escapees does for RVers.

Even if you donโ€™t choose them, their website has a lot of good information.

We chose Escapees based on recommendations from friends, and chose the Escapees Texas location mainly becaus we were already Texas residents. We did consider the Florida option, but decided paying state sales tax on transferring the truck and trailer to Florida plates wasnโ€™t worth the costs.

Weโ€™ve had nothing but excellent service with Escapees. Three times Iโ€™ve received jury duty summons. A quick phone call to the county office to say that we are out of state cleared me of that requirement. I especially like how Escapees works with the county to ensure full-timers have a chance to vote in elections.
