Vehicle Registration

Hey full timers, where do you register your vehicles. If I sell my brick and stick house what address do I show, Do I need to have a home address for licensing.
  • Are you talking about Ontario or Florida? If Florida and you're selling the house then get a mail forwarding service that will give you an address to use for registration, voting, medical, etc.
  • Yes, you need a legal residence address to register your vehicle and vote and get health insurance, etc. FL, TX and SD are the most popular States that will allow you to become a resident without living their year round. Do some searches for mail forwarding and you should get a bunch of hits.
  • For starters, are you Canadian or US citizens?

    For US citizens
www.escapees.com has a wealth of information and offers mail forwarding to make it easier.
I'm sure there is a Canadian source as well, but I am not familar with it.
  • Escapees has a mail forwarding Service among many others. Florida, Texas, and North dakota are some that have domicile addresses to use.

The Canadian full time RV dilemma. What's my Canadian "address"? Where do I "officially" live?

Here's a link to a blog/website with the most common answers.

http://fulltimecanada.ca/ <<< see the FAQ section.

Have been researching it on and off for a few years, and these folks are an example of how to do it. So far, that is. There are probably other Canadian blogs out there for how to full time if you happen to be Canadian. Our government doesn't make it easy, with licensing and healthcare, but that's another issue...

Upon further review, the folks at the website aren't actually traveling full time. It appears they've moved from one side of Canada to the other, and set up shop in BC. Effectively they've gone full time in their 5th wheel, but in the sense of full time traveling in an RV, they don't qualify, in my opinion. Still some good info there.
This brings up the question of what is full time RVing? Is it living in a trailer or motorhome in an RV campground full time (or for 6 months plus a day?), or is it actually using the RV full time to travel and see what's out there?
