Water heater problems ... sporadic leak ...
We had a new water heater installed in our TT early Spring-time and have had a couple of leaks from fittings ... one was a veritable flood in Sept ..Hubby had to shut off water, etc as water on floor....

Just because it is new doesn't mean it was installed correctly.
Sounds like installer didn't use teflon tape where needed, use new washer/gaskets in fittings and/or tighten fittings properly.
I would go back and check each fitting/connection
Cold water inlet nipple, cold water line connection/fitting
Hot water outlet nipple, hot water line connection/fitting
Bypass line connection/fittings
Electric element & gasket
T&P Relief Valve
Drain Plug
