2004 F53 6.8L V-10 Catalytic Converter Replacement

I own a 2004 Forest River Georgetown Class A motorhome on a Ford F53 chassis with 6.8L V-10 engine. Last week, while it was at the dealership for service, someone cut off the OEM catalytic converter (P/N 4C3Z5E212FA), and now I need a replacement. However, Ford doesn't make it anymore. I need help to find an alternate part that maintains the same flow characteristics of the original. I installed a Bank Power Pack on it a few years ago and need to maintain the same flow capability. Can anyone give me a lead on who makes replacements for the F53? All my Google searches have done nothing more than verify that the original pat is discontinued. Really need some help here. Thanks.

Thanks all for your replies. I have actually spoken to Ford, Banks, Summit, Magnaflow and others about replacement options. Ford was the least helpful, with the others close behind. We don't have emission testing in Ohio, but it is still a requirement to have one installed and I support emission controls. Plus, I plan to sell/trade it some day, so really do need to have a replacement installed. Insurance for sure will pay for the replacement, it is just about finding a viable replacement. It was a good suggestion about a converter from the later model V10's so I will pursue that. I wonder if that is an installation or compatibility issue? Regardless, I'll check that our further. Thanks

..But not on a vehicle built on a truck chassis like this, with a GVWR well over 10,000 lbs.

Not that I'm condoning not replacing the catalytic converter, just pointing out that from a legality standpoint, original poster may well not have anything to worry about.

Will....California requires smog checks on mine and I'm at 26,000 GVWR.
You should see what they require for tractor trailer trucks out here.

If the converter was stolen it seems to me you could talk to your insurance company and have them pay for a new one.

The V10's cat is $$$$ simply because of the the amount of platinum in it. That's why Ford replacements are pricey.

BTW - even though that particular P/N was discontinued, it really just means an updated part replaced it. You can install a cat from a newer V10. Of course, they are still $$$$. Most aftermarket cats don't have near the flow of the stock cat. But maybe some of the "high-flow" version do. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any independent testing. Best bet may actually be trying to find somebody parting out a V10 on craigslist.

If you wanted to point out the legality, you would have said it's a Federal offense to remove a catalytic converter. Doesn't matter what happens in any city, county, or state.

Agreed, but he didn't remove it, a thief did. ๐Ÿ™‚

I bet its illegal to remove and steal a catalytic converter, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I would talk to Eastern Catalitic....if they do not have a replacement they have universal ones that can be used. I replaced the expensive 2 part in my Astro van when it went bad with an eastern single unit and it passed emissions and worked well as it had higher flow then original Also give Davico Manufacturing a call they make replacement cats

every state is different and every county in each state lots of states require emission tests on gas motor homes from what I have read and been told?
FOR EXAMPLE::
If U live in Colorado and in a County that requires the emmissions testing. Whether you own a gas or diesel you are required to get a full emmissions test on your rv before you are allowed to purchase or renew your lic. plates.

NOW that being said if hes exempt in ohio as u say. There is no way I would install the converter. Better power without one and sounds better(lol)
