2015 Discovery 40E Inverter/Charger help

Hi All, I am the new owner of a Discovery 40E DP. At home I always plugged in my old 50A gasser into a 20A receptacle to keep the batteries charged. I brought the new DP home and plugged in the 50A (via adaptor) into the same 20A receptacle and the on board Magnum inverter/charge wont recognize the input AC. Does this system need to see a 50A connection to charge the batteries? Thx, Jeff
  • Mr. Jeff,

Did you set your inverter to 20 amp?

When we plugged-in our previous coach and the new one, I have to set the inverter to the outlet that we are plugged into. Our new coach will not take less than a 30 amp plug. Our previous Dynasty would accept a 15/20 amp plug-in and I set the inverter to 20 amp and the batteries were charged.

    Safe travels,
    MM.
  • Thx! I see that in the Inverter controller documentation. Will try that later today. Jeff
  • Tried that and it still isnt charging. The transfer switch lights red when I plug in the 20A cord, but no power to the inverter. Do I need to have the Magnum inverter button "on" to charge??
  • What transfer switch are you talking about?
Changing the shore power setting does not make it charge or not charge. The reason you change the shore power setting is due to all the other AC items that you may try to run off of 20 amps. This may help in NOT tripping the circuit breaker to the 20 amp outlet.

The red light, are you sure that is not the Surge Guard light?
  • Press the charge button on the control panel. You can toggle
    The charger on and off
    With that button
