Jimmy, the converter in my Winnebago is under the drawer that is under the oven. In most RV's that I seen the converter is always not very far from the batteries.

If your dc fuse panel is any where below waist height
You will find the converter section is behind the fuses
Unplug shore power, disconnect batteries
Remove fuse panel to access converter
Unless you have a blown main charge/battery fuse the converter charge section
No battery power sounds like the main battery charge fuse is bad

Are batteries charged or dead
Did you have power lights that slowly went dead?
If so fuses are good , converter is bad
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

The converter is probably in the same cabinet as the AC circuit breaker/DC fuse panel, just remove the lower panel and you should see the transformer.

It should be by the passenger side rear wheel well (aft) which is under the dinette and jacket closet in main aisle. There is a vent cover near the floor to gain access.

Winnebago has some good wiring diagrams at their website. Not sure of your model, but this may help.

Have you tried cycling the battery disconnect switch?
Did you look for fuse or circuit breaker adjacent to the batteries?
Do you have a volt meter?
Adjacent to the 120 volt circuit breakers should be a small plate covering the 12 volt DC fuses. have you checked them?

First find MAIN DC Dist Panel......has all the 'house' DC Individual circuit Fuses
Close by/behind it/next to it would be the converter

Question.....
Whenever I read 'new batteries' I have to ask
Did you mark battery cables prior to removal, if not did you trace battery cables prior to connecting to new battery.

If connected backwards.......'reverse polarity' fuses (30A or larger on converter) blow to protect converter electronics
If blown ---no DC from battery OR from converter when on AC
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Transfer switch. Possibly mounted to the back of power distribution panel.
Check for circuit breaker adjacent to the batteries.
possibly battery disconnect in disconnected mode or bad. Try turning them off then back on.

What thumps?

Perhaps he is hearing the ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) latch in-- just a guess.

Should be able to track down the source of the "thump".
