Is there such a thing as a 19' Class B that can be comfortably driven and parked in urban areas and which has a real bed? My definition of "real bed" is a genuine mattress - not a lump of foam. And definitely not memory foam, which makes me sweat like a very sweaty thing.I've been looking around for a little while now. I'm retiring next year and want to hit the road. I'm a 50 year old woman, and I'll be traveling solo. I love the idea of a Sprinter Van conversion, but haven't seen one yet that offered something that looked like I could actually sleep on for a week at a time.As an alternative, I'm considering a 5th wheel.

there's a lot of stuff between a B van and a 5er? why not a little larger C or B+ (sic) instead if you can't find a B that is acceptable? no 5er could be comfortably driven and parked in urban areas IMHO. I don't believe that you'll have much luck in that sized class B, unless maybe you built a custom unit. Also, a class B and 5th wheel are apples and oranges. Good luck and best wishes.

you need to step up to a class C but small , look at the leisure travel van.s ours is 25ft long.

Interesting how different we all are. I long ago got rid of all mattresses in both my home and RV. I replaced them with what I consider comfortable... for just a fraction of the price... with an appropriate sized piece of foam (not memory) and put a mattress pad on it.

I would look at Sportsmobile's website and their online system for planning your own floor plan with only what you want. You could choose to make their gaucho or platform system to fit a standard twin size mattress... and then work from there to add what bathroom, kitchen and storage you want.

You didn't give us your location... or at least I don't know where "nope" is. But Sportsmobile has three locations: Texas, California, and Indiana.

Walk into a 19 foot van and then ask yourself how/where could you install a "real bed" in that u nit and still have a usable floor plan :)

Do check out Sportsmobile. You can buy the mattress and they can build the platform to put it own. If you can get by with a twin bed, you will still have some space. They might even be able to make a bed that folds up: Bunk and Platform Beds

The older 190 Chevy, and Dodge Roadtreks were under 20' if the spare was stored inside, and they had real beds. Rt 190 P's had small King beds, or two twins.

I have a 17' conversion van. I got rid of the bench/beds and installed a recliner which is what I sleep in at home. Can you sleep on a futon? I am sure a carpenter could put together a fold up/fold down futon.
