A site for all y'all wanting to do a mini-camper or DIY van

You may glean some ideas from this guy's web site, or even do business with him. I've seen his work, and it's darned good.

I thought this one was especially interesting, considering the price:

  • If one doesn't want to build them, I'd take those plans to Sportsmobile and see what they can do.
  • This person has been building these units for years and seems to do a good job. I almost used him when I converted my Sprinter. Like he says he uses his conversions to see how well they work verses most of these
design people that haven't got a clue. Note I am not affiliated with this person or product in any way.

People who use their configurations have it all over people who dont. Even so, different people have different needs and renting before buying is good for "finished" products while build, try, build, try is good for us DIY. I am still tweaking the inside of mine after 3 years and 6+ trips.
  • His stuff always seems a little half baked and unfinished to me. I think I will find a local cabinet maker and see what they can come up with. My current van has custom cabinets that are pretty nice. Don't know who made them.
  • Having had a limited conversion on my Sienna, I can see some appealing tweaks that he has done. If or when I decide to downsize again, helpful to keep in mind. Quite a good idea to sell the kits on eBay for those who can DIY.
