I am looking at a 1999 Monaco diplomat diesel pusher, I haven't seen it yet but it looks rough, some damage to the rear, where the previous owner backed into something.I am not sure the full detail on the unit, but in general are they a good class a, Is the chassis good? Did they all have the roadmaster chassis, and how was it? What things should I look for,m I have researched and it looks like it should have a cummins 5.9, I know it has an allison tranny. the right rear window awning is missing. Any help would be appreciated?
I couldn't agree with you more, but I am handy our current Motorhome is a 87 34 south wind, and the price is below 10k Canadian. I am famiar with the 5.9 engines as I have an 05 ram
I am assuming getting the model will help me figure out the chassis and engine, but is there any other way. I am not really in any position to be a connoisseur of engines and chassis, but want to stay away from ones that are plagued with issues. I am going at this knowing that I am going to need to put some money in it, but want to know the big items to watch for. What are the difference between the 2 different chassis engine options, does it come down to handling and road manners.
Diplomat is Monaco's "top of the mid-line" product and is always a great coach.
It will be a Roadmaster 8 air bag chassis, the best in the "affordable" category (but I will admit bias) Engine will be a Cummins ICS 8.3 liter, either 300 or 330 HP.
