American Coach Dream.(Should have been called NIGHTMARE)

We have had enough. Bought 2016 American Coach Dream from Lazy Dayz in January. The first day the troubles started. Water leaking out the underside of coach, (pipes were not sealed together), the next day the shower wall fell off. Lazy Days did nothing, said it was between us and the factory. (We had not owned it for a day yet). Drove to factory, they fixed it. Left factory 2 weeks later. Since then the coach has been falling apart. Some of the problems. Water again leaking from the underside of coach, water leaking from the Aqua Hot, water pump sounds like it is taking off, trim has fallen off while driving, mud flap fell off and got dragged on highway, bed frame fell apart, floor tiles cracked, the air conditioning leaks water into the ceiling light and air vents (my guests have not been impressed), the drive train shakes the tag looses air pressure, the ignition switch fell apart (had to crawl under dash to start engine), along with all the little things you expect when you buy a new coach. What I am getting at here is, American Coach should not have let this or any other coach go out the door in such condition. The American Dream is their magazine advertising unit for many pictures. I would like to show all my pictures to anyone interested in buying from this company. I feel they should have to buy this back, without going into the legal system to get it done. What do you think?

I talk to people from Virginia and from Texas Who did not have good service and dealers ---and they were told to take their units to the factory

you can dispute me all you want but I talked to them--- and if you'd like, I can give you the phone numberof one of those people ---This particular person had an ESSEX,that they had just bought--- and they were five items needed repair on this particular coach.
if you'd like I'll give you his phone number you can call him yourself:S

I Will be meeting up with him in about a week up here in Traverse City as he's going to be up here for a month:W

People who buy Newmar products come from all over the United States back to the factory in Nappanee Indiana to have the factory work on it!!!!!!!!
(I was just at the Newmar Factory about the two weeks ago and there were probably 30 units there to have Factory repairs done-- it's common in the motorhome industry)

I can assure you that the 30 units were not there for repairs. Some will have added features made or renovations. Many stop in for tours even though they already have one. They like to see 'what's new'. If folks are traveling through that area they just stop and chat with an employee - perhaps the one that you dealt with for months designing your motorhome. When ordering a custom coach at Newmar you really get to know the folks that build it. They help you immensely when choosing how to design it.

The Newmar network makes it very easy to get things done as you travel. You definitely don't have to return to the factory. We never returned to our selling dealer and never returned to the factory.

Sorry to Quibble----but when I was there (I was there for a number of days )--and every single owner that I talk to (and I talk to most of them)-- were there to have work done on their coach at the factory !!!!

so how is that NOT having work done at the factory huh ??????

how can you assure me that they weren't having the unit worked on ----when everyone I talked to was having the unit work done?????

I never once said that they were bad ----or that they needed WORK done ------FOR REPAIRS ON EVERY ONE ---- AT LEAST 10 people SHOWED ME exactually what WAS WRONG and THEY HAD APPOINTMENTS TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE!!!!!

they were approximately 30 units there when I was there--- I talked to at least 20 of them ---and they were there to have work done at the factory

so you are MISTAKEN:W

FWIW American Coach has always been extraordinarily helpful with any question or general need during the 7 years that I have owned my 18 year old Eagle.

I cannot imagine that they would not be even more helpful to the OP in the situation described.

And regarding the ceiling, I think they could replace that with no problem.

I vote for contact and communication before lawyering up! Just my 2 cents.

I was looking at a Newmar dealer not long ago and they also carry American Coach (I always loved the American Eagle). I commented that American is a good looking coach and the salesman said "And that's about it"! I was surprised by the comment because I always thought of American as a first class quality coach.

He said it use to be but not anymore because their quality control is not at all what is use to be! He asked if I noticed to the left of the drivers position in the Newmar's that there's a name and phone number? I hadn't noticed and he said its your personal customer service adviser. If its 9 at night and and you can't figure out how your furnace works. You call that number and he'll pick up and give you everything you need.

This isn't a Newmar commercial but that was incredible to me that a coach company was willing to get that far in front of their product!

Sorry for your trouble, what a nightmare!

I would certainly agree with the others that the factory is absolutely the best place to take any coach with significant issues. They are the most prepared to fix those things.

The factory built the unit

The factory is the best place to get your coach work done it was made at the factory!!!!! they know how it was built ---It is much different than an automobile you would never take an automobile back to the factory.

A simple internet search of LazyDays complaints will show that lack of service is not a new thing to that dealership. I live only a few miles away from them and one deal with them was enough for me.

Quality control, has to be taken care of by someone in the factory who has been there long enough to know what to look for. This may be part of the problem. Workers need to take pride in their work, and management needs to give them time to do quality work, not just daily piece allotments. I have herd that at some of the rv production lines, if a worker gets their allotment done early than they can go home for the day. This makes for sloppy work,
The dealer we purchased from told us they could not hire and train new techs fast enough to keep up with the demand and after they train, many leave to go to higher paying dealers.

What about the post , talking about how the RV industry is treating the dealers these days and how workmanship and quality control has gotten extremely sloppy trying to make profits. This sounds like a prime example here.

At this time I would forget about LazyDays and take it back to the factory repair center (they are much better equipped to deal with all of your problems), document everything, keep records of everything they fix and we're suppose to fix. Ask them to assign someone to your case file, that you can deal with in the future if there are more and or reoccurring problems.

Keep after them, if it spends to much time in the shop, make sure they extend your warranty for at least that much time (they shouldn't hesitate to do this). Stay on top of them and keep pushing to get it as it should be or else let them know you expect them to replace it.

Biggest thing is to stay on top of it and keep really good records. I would give them a chance to fix everything first, before involving a lawyer.
