Bathtub replacement.............

I finaly bit the bullit and ordered a new tub for the old buss. The bottom has been cracked for years, patched, repaired and finaly taped. Now while I'm waiting for the FedX man to show up I decided to go ahead and pull everything out and redo the support for the tub bottom. The only problem so far is getting the drain out. I've been unscrewing that drain strainer all day and it still has not come loose. Is there something I'm missing? Don't those strainers screw right in to the pee trap? Is there a trick or will I have to gain axcess to the drain underneath the tub. I don't know if my arms long enough..........
  • Well thanks guys. I know that this Texas heat got to me now. I didn't use the sawzall but I did use the dremmel with a zip bit!!! Took longer to get the tool out than it did to cut the hole. Nuttin to it!!!! Man it made me mad when I saw the lack of support under that tub. Needless to say the new one will be right. I remember talking to Fleetwood the first time that tub cracked, they had some excuse and it couldn't be their fault etc.etc.etc. Oh well.
  • As you are not saving the Old Tub, I would just use a Saws All or similar tool and cut around the drain to gain access to remove the thing. I would also recommend replacing the old P-Trap with a new Hepvo Trap http://www.hepvo.com/. Best thing I have ever done for myself. No winterizing required and no Air Admittance Valve needed.
