Black Mold or Something Else?

Greetings,

I was replacing a roof vent and see the Styrofoam in the rough opening is black.

It's either pretty bad (thick) or something else (do they use a Styrofoam sealant at the opening?) . I've added pics. Any feedback appreciated.

Me either...
Might be black foam blocks insulation or maybe they painted the exposed surfaces with some kind of sealer...

I'd poke into it to see how deep the "black" goes. My bet is that it is black foam batting.

Looks like that flex seal or rubber spray some sort.
Definitely not black mold .I see black mold all the the time

That doesn't look like black mold to me.
