Body color bumpers and trim.

The B campers with body color bumpers look nicer to me than the stock grey or black on a Promaster or Transit. I may attempt a home build on a Transit. My question is for anyone with a factory B that came that way or anyone who has painted their bumpers to match.
Do they stay looking nice, or do they quickly become chipped?

There is one member of the Hymer Aktiv FB page who painted the bumpers on his rig to match the rest of the body.

Look on the fordtransitusa forum under the "camper conversion" threads - I know a lot of people have painted "Plastidip" on the sections of their vans that are prone to stonechips, etc - I'm not sure if anyone has painted the plastic? They say the stuff pulls right off without damage.

Personally I would say that one of the more ridiculous decisions of the auto industry was painted "bumpers." In other words... no bumpers... just something for some jerk in a parking lot to back into and scratch/dent/chip leaving a costly repair.

I specifically chose to avoid painted bumpers and went with the stock OEM on my Promaster RT. Much cheaper and easier to just pop off and replace if ever needed. To be honest, I think they even look better.
