Were it me, here's what I'd do.
There are several "parts" to this which include:
Paying for it
Paperwork
Insurance
Transporting it
Paying for it.
I'd go to my local bank (I assume in WY) and explain to the branch manager what you want to do. Then deposit sufficient money in your account to pay for what you're buying.
Then go to Florida, and when you've struck your bargain and agreed the sale, you and the seller go to the seller's bank, explain the transaction to the manager there, call your bank from the FL bank office and instruct them to wire (using "Fed Funds") the money to FL - TO THE BANK, NOT TO THE SELLER's ACCOUNT. The FL bank branch manager should be able to "see" the arrival of the money within minutes.
That way, you keep your money 'til the deal is "closing", and the seller knows they have good funds (i.e., no risk of a "bad check" from you - after all, they don't really know you).
The reason for wiring to the bank and not the seller is when the wire's complete, your money is "gone". If you wire it to the seller and they renege, they have the RV AND the money, and you're in court to get it straightened out. But, if you wire to the bank, then when the paperwork is complete, they'll then transfer the wire from their account to the seller's account. If the paperwork isn't completed, they'll return the money to you. Recall from above that you've explained the transaction to the seller's bank branch manager.
You will have to pay for the wire - maybe $25 or so - but, it's worth it in my opinion when you're dealing with strangers.
Or, of course, you could always take cash - literally $20 bills. But you'll still need the bank for their notary services.
Paperwork
You'll likely need the following:
The FL title on the vehicle you're buying, endorsed to you and signed by all owners
A bill of sale
A vehicle odometer statement
I'd call (or better yet if it's convenient go see) the WY DMV folks. Ask them just what you'll need to register the vehicle in WY, when it's bought in FL. They'll tell you what they'll want and you MUST be sure to provide each piece of documentation.
Also inquire about which, if any, of the documents must be notarized. I'd bet they want at least the bill of sale notarized.
Someone at the seller's bank is likely a notary, so you can get that done there when the transaction closes.
Separately, I'd inquire of WY DMV about temporary transport "plates". Most states have something similar, and it's usually good for no more than 30 days,, sometimes less - but, enough time to "get home".
If you have the make/model/year/VIN, you could likely obtain same and take it with you to FL. There will be some fee, but it's usually small. And, you may have to provide "proof" of insurance to obtain temporary transport plates. That could slightly alter the timing and sequence of the next section
Insurance
I'd call your favorite insurance agent/broker/company and explain the transaction to them. That way, you can set up in advance the coverages you want and how you plan to pay for them.
Then, when in the FL bank office at closing, call your insurance contact and bind the coverage. If you have a computer with you, and your email account, then ask the insurance folks to email you the "binder". If you don't have email, ask them to fax it to the FL bank so you have proof of insurance while returning to WY.
The seller won't care, nor will the FL bank, if you have insurance coverage in force - but you should care.
Transporting it
Now drive home, go back to DMV and register it, and enjoy.
If WY requires an inspection to register a "used" vehicle, then you'll need to get that done before the temporary plates expire.
Yes, 'tis a bit of a pain, but it can be done and it's done all the time. Maybe not FL to WY, but interstate for sure.
One last thought.
If you get to FL and it's not what you thought, all you're out is a trip to FL, maybe a little insurance premium (if you need to bind to get transport plates), and some of your time.
Best of luck.
