Does anyone know what the code given by my Scan Gauge for a Cat C7 means?

One possibility I came across is “J1939 data link communication error”.

ID...tells you what’s wrong. ie: oil pressure, water temp etc. Sorry but I do not know what the 639 code pertains to.

FM...stands for failure mode. 12 means a device or component is not working properly. So likely it’s a sensor that needs replaced.

CNT ....stands for count. Number of times it’s failed.

Hopefully someone with a C7 will be able to tell you what the 639 code is.

Do not have that hardware but those codes almost look like "log on information".

Google Scan Gauge Manual (Turns out several companies make scan gauge) and pick the one that matches the maker of YOUR gauge.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.
