We live fulltime on the road and so far have visited 22 or 23 states. Having a wonderful time. However, as I was walking the campground this morning, drinking my coffee, I began to wonder "When does the campground description go from stretching the truth to something more like a lie?" I am not going to name the park we are in, as I am not posting a complaint, just thinking aloud.This campground advertises itself as a "Luxury Resort". Now, I know we have all stayed at luxury resorts. We have stayed at lots of them. We don't necessarily search them out, but if we come across one, we like to stay. Buckhorn outside of San Antonio, Bella Terra in Foley, AL, Crown Villa in Bend, OR, Portal RV Resort in UT, etc. This place has NO paved roads, lots of dust, sites are fairly close, have seen many large rigs with front tires off the ground, you have to pay to use the showers, the Internet is basically non-existent (even close to the office), the pool is not heated, staff not knowledgeable nor very friendly, etc. Again, this is a decent little campground but, in our opinion, not even close to being a resort and most certainly not a "luxury resort". Just find this very interesting. Please don't slam on me ~ I am just thinking aloud here and we are happy with our site.

I use rvparkreviews.com for the most accurate RV park information. After we stay at a park I go to this web site and post my opinion of that park. It is the one place where you can read user posted opinions.

That's the same as when they advertise and show how many stars for how clean their bathrooms are and they aren't'.The best on I had the privilege of running into several times when I traveled south is many had closed down their pools during what 'they' consider the winter months because 'they' thought it was too cold and cost too much to heat the pool in 70 degree temps!! Make sure you ask that question if you are looking to use a pool at a CG down south.

I use rvparkreviews.com for the most accurate RV park information. After we stay at a park I go to this web site and post my opinion of that park. It is the one place where you can read user posted opinions.

one person's luxury resort in another's dump. it's all about expectations. most of the park's we've been in over the years have had better-than-most wifi but then our expectations are likely lower than most. we don't want to stream audio or video...just check mail and some light surfing. same with the parks. if it's clean, the hookups work as expected and the neighbors are reasonable we're happy.

We have been fulltime for a year now and are dissapointed in the quality of some parks we come across on a few of the review sites, I wonder if some of the posts are done by the owners themselves.
We were at one that when we went to check rvparkreviews the pictures were wonderful, on par, right up there with the reviews, 4 star.
The park was a mess, because I paid up front we stayed.
During our stay I was talking with the owners and they produced a scrapbook, the pictures at rvparkreview were 14 years old, right after the Resort opened.

I think the same folks write those RV park ads that write real estate ads for which the following translator is a helpful tool:

"quotes"= what they say
(parentheses)= what they really mean

1. "Cozy" (too small)
2. "Charming" (too old)
3. "Original condition" (appliances are 50 years old)
4. "Needs TLC" (it's a dump)
5. "Conveniently located" (noisy)
6. "Desirable neighborhood" (this little house has been way overpriced because the neighborhood has some snob appeal)
7. "Efficient kitchen" (too small to fit two adults)
8. "One-car garage" (you can drive your Chevy in, but can't get out)
9. "Peek at the park/river/mountains" (if you angle your mirror just so)
10. "Useable land" (no trees)
11. "Beachfront steal" (no hurricane insurance available at any price)
12. "Country living" (too far from anywhere to drive to work)
13. "Must see inside" (outside is ugly)
14. "Unique" (hard to sell)
15. "Just available" (previous owner just died on the premises, hope you don't mind)
