This is just a heads up on a good, cheap price for start batteries.
I was at Freightliner Fort Worth Friday and saw they were still running their OEM (groupe 31) start batteries for $69.00. Should be at any Freightliner dealer. That is cheap, I bought two this spring. They weren't old stock just a month old.

Cheap can be OK, and I think you've found it, if the battery is rated at OEM specs. A lot of the difference in battery prices is warranty length, and in some cases the higher price is just paying for a longer warranty on essentially the same battery, on top of brand name marketing costs. Over the longer term, it could be a matter of buying two $70 batteries vs a $140 battery that lasts twice as long.

I wish somebody made a cheaper version of the lawn-tractor sized battery Honda put in my Fit, because Honda wants more for that one than I would pay for the cheapest Group 65 for my van, which is at least 4x the capacity.

ok so go there then look at the make and amp rating yourself and look up the brand and see if it meets your specs?

$70 for a 925 CCA 31 series battery is a steal of a deal
just about all diesel motor homes for years and years use them and all the OVTR trucks so its a multi mass produced series of a battery

I don't know who made them. They are original equipment Freightliner. 925 CCA at zero and 1110 at 32 degrees, regular price is $135.00 ea.

Was the battery at Freightliner @ $ 69.00 an "Alliance" brand battery ?
