My 2016 Colorado Owners Manual says the Diesel is NOT Towable.
I have the V-6 engine.
Owner's Manual Page 330 is Flat Towing.
Diesel Supplement
I checked those links and did some Google searches and don't see this any place else. Chev says as long as the transfer case has a neutral position it can be towed. I wonder if the transfer care in the diesel model doesn't have neutral? I guess I'll have to go find one and take a look.

Wow, I did not know GM offered a 4 cyl diesel in their small trucks! That's exciting!
Too bad Ford didn't upgrade the Ranger with a diesel, instead of discontinuing the truck altogether... 😞
It was new for 2015. And the Colorado and the GM canyon are the only smaller pickups that are towable four wheels down without modifications (4x4 only). Dodge doesn't make the Dakota anymore which was towable, and none of the Toyotas or Nissan's are towable.

I have the Sister Engine in my Jeep Liberty, and it is a decent engine. When the Liberty isn't road worthy, I would definitely be looking at the Colorado.
Jeep is using the same engine as Chevy?
The GM engine is the next generation 4 cyl DOHC motor from VM Motori. VM Motori, the Italian engine maker, was half owned by GM and Fiat until this year. The Engine in my Ram was destined to be in Euro Cadillacs (My Oil Cap says GM on it, even though it is in a RAM). The VM Motori R428 engine in my Jeep and has a Bosch injector system. The A428 that is in the Colorado has a Denso injector system. The A428 also has some other refinements over the R428.
One thing I like with the GM 2.8 I4 over the Ram 3.0 V6 is the use of an engine driven fan. The biggest downfall in the Ram is keeping it cool.
