Ok went out for 4 days and late last night 12 volt power issues. Checked voltage to convert 119 volts from shore power to converter. 10.46 volts coming out.I assume converter is Kaput!! Fuses looked good and showed continuety I do not know what size it is , it probably original to mo ho, what do I replace it with. Should I increase amp size when I do so. Battery is brand new and showed 12.86 volts before heading out. It is now down to 10. something volts. I know that this works wonders on a new battery, I just got in a bind and didn't have a portable charger with me. We are back home now and have charger on battery. This outing was a shakedown since we haven't been out in a while and we were having other Issues with coach as posted last few weeks. So what is a good brand to look for and what else do I need to know about converters.
Thanks again Guys!

Replaced converter with same kind Intel 9100. Voltage from converter is 13.86 volts at converter terminals, and 13.86 volts at battery. Went on a weekend trip all seems to work well. Thanks for the input guys.

As wa8yxm said check the converter with another known good battery as a shorted cell could bring down the voltage before replacing it, just my 2 cents; kdk

What converter do you have (Just want to know)
Converters come in two or 3 flavors
One is a "Stand alone" box, not part of a larger assembly.> Replace with Progressive Dynamics 92xx where the xx is as close as you can get to the last two digits of your current converter in most cases (The max current rating in all cases)

Converters that are part of teh power distribution center.. In this case you use the 46xx and replace just the converter part. Same on the last two digits

The third type of converter is also part of an inverter.. Now I'd go with the 9200 and just disable the converter module, way cheaper than a new inverter/charger.

Finally: NOTE: if you have a couple shorted cells in your battery, they can draw down the voltages... So check the batteries as well. MARINE/deep cycle do not always recover from 10x volts.

I pulled out converter,Intel Power 9100 model PD9160A, I had 2 6volt interstate 205's in coach but they seemed to be shot. So in the intern I installed Sure Start from OlRiley's 12 volt deep cycle 425 amp cranking 135 reserve. till I get rid of some of my gremlins, then will put this in the boat and go back to 6 volts a little later this year. We do not boondocks very much and usually are plugged in at a campground.

YES your converter has failed........

With proper AC Voltage IN (and 119V is good) the converter Minimum DC Voltage out should be at least 13.2V DC. Anything less and converter is not functioning properly

As for which converter for replacement. Lots of variables.

Easiest way to find out is 'ASK Randy' at Best Converter.....LINK

He will ask what you currently have, what is your usage and will guide you to replacements that meet your needs/current application

I would consider an inverter charger instead.

Please do not toss the old converter in the trash

What kind of converter is it?
Digital converters can not show good voltage till you hook them up to a battery.

What battery capacity do you have?

I am fond of Progressive Dynamics converters. Pretty good three stage fast chargers and worry free.
