For Ford 1996 F53 460"
With externally mounted tiff ICM
Finally got the right one ICM DY1077
Also installed new OEM motorcraft fuel pressure regulator
Pulled pcm relay and fuel pump relay cleaned terminals and swapped relays around
New distributor cap and rotor

Still having poor acceleration power problems

Fuel system checks ok, except Ned to have a pressure test done

Starts easy, idles smooth, obviously diagnostics give no engine problems or pcm problems
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

As you well know from being on the forum for many years, the fuel pump on those old 460 F53 are prone to failure. I'm sure you also know the fuel pressure test needs to be done while driving at WOT. Should maintain about 32#. NO catalytic on 94-97 F53.

And they tend to work intermittently a lot too, until final failure.

Right when you think you've found the problem they act up again.

We fought the battle until we finally changed both fuel pumps, added a partial Banks kit, and took care of the converter.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

I'm just throwing this out as food for thought.

A stuck heat riser (stuck partially closed) ... I remember dealing with that years ago.

Partially clogged catalytic converter or exhaust in general what it sounds like to me. The engine either needs more air in or more air out if no codes showing . Every fuel pump I ever seen go bad once it gets hot it shuts off . poor power is also a sign of clogged fuel filter but hard starting is a sign for that
