Do you have an aftermarket lock on your Electric Awning?

I found it absolutely necessary to have an awning lock installed on my manual side awing.
But since I now have an automatic, electric awning, do I need one? Does anyone use one? Is there such a thing?

Does anyone know if the Dometic brand awning needs a lock?

Aftermarket lock on an electric awning. Probably not the best idea. My electric awning has never seemed to need one.

I have a Carefree electric that is 17++ feet long. It has an automatic lock and now have driven it 45,000 miles without a problem. Had a manual awning on a previous Allegro and used after market locks and never had a problem.

The electric awnings do not require a locking mechanism. One is built in...at least on the Girard....Dennis

Lost a manual awning in 2006. Replaced it with a carefree electric. Was told a lock wasn't needed. Still on the RV. Lost the first one on I40 near Needles. DW was driving. The wind/awning acted like a parachute and moved the rig over a lane. Used bungies to secure it and drove all the way to Indiana before replacing.

awninglock.com has a lock for the electric awnings, as well as the manual awnings.

We were headed for Salt Lake City on I-15 right after Xmas, and as we were going up the Virgin River canyon, we saw a large (about 40') mh coming down the canyon and just at that moment we saw their patio awning extend out and ripped off the side of the mh. Since the road was divided, we had no means to stop and help and often wondered how that could have happened. I'm sure their awning was electric. So I'm too, interested in if there is a lock of some sort for an electric awning.
