engine won't turn over

2001 Damon Ultrasport, cummins 275 hp motor on a freightliner chassis. I just installed the 2 chassis batteries after charging them up and it won't turn over, nothing. I get all the lights on the dash and after they all go out, the "low Air pressure" stays lit. There isn't any air pressure at all. The manual trouble shooting to add air from an outside source but it fails to explain how to do it. Bare with me, I'm fairly new to this class A.

Usually just means a stuck brush in the starter from setting.

Have you put a meter on the starter solenoid?

The prints I got show all of them. The 1st print they sent me didn't show any so I replied to their emailed and explained what I needed. The next day I had 4 really nice prints. To small to read, so I took them to a print shop and had printed on 24x36" paper.

The diagrams are nice, but they don't really tell you where the components are. FL can tell you that, too.

With my back issues, I have to wait for the weekend when my cousin can help me and then I have to wait when it ain't raining or he won't go under the mh. lol. But that's in the plan, but did notice corrosion on some of the cables and will also look at those also.

I got ahold of freightliner and asked them for wiring diagrams for my 2001 ultrasport/xcs chassis. They sent 4 to me, front to rear. If anyone needs them to find what wire goes where, call their support number or pm me and I'll pass them along.

Just replaced the starter on 2000 damon ultra sport. When turn the ignition switch sometimes it would start other times you would have to do it 2 or 3 times. Replaced the starter solved the problem. Oh it uses the battery's to start.

Glad to see someone with the same brand! I'm going to start with a couple of the easiest, the starter solenoid and the nuatral safety switch relay. If you could point me to those? I took the batteries in and had the tested a Napa and they are good.

The neutral lockout switch is in the transmission, but closes a relay in the starter circuit.
Freightliner can tell you where it is on your coach.

One easy way to rule a lot of stuff out: find your large starter relay. It is a tower relay with a big cable from the battery then to the starter. If you jump across the contacts withe screwdriver you are bypassing everything g except the batteries and starter ( and battery cables). If it doesn't crank doing that, it is your starter or cables....since you had batteries checked. If the ignition is on, you can start it that way.

Freightliner can tell you where your relay is. Mine is behind a cover in my electric bay.

I probably have the same Freightliner chassis as your coach. You need really good batteries to crank the engine. I also think you have a battery problem. If those batteries were flat for 7 months, you may have good voltage but not enough amperage available to crank the engine.

Have you tried jumper cables from an operating vehicle to help boost the available amperage?

You can get some expert help for free. Write down the last 6 digits of your VIN number. Then call the Freightliner Help Desk. It's a free service. 1 800 385-4357. They have the build documents for your chassis, and can give you troubleshooting tips. They have been very helpful for me.

Good luck, and let us know the outcome.
