Another "thumbs up" for "Pac Brake Lube".

If, repeat if you have an exhaust brake, as with most engines it would be immediately downstream of the turbo in the exhaust system.

A check with your chassis maker will tell a particular engine/coach has an exhaust brake and also what brand it is.

But, I suspect you have an engine compression brake (aka Jake brake) on if you have the C9. Caterpillar RV Hotline would also be able to give you info on this: 877 777-3126.

Since the Pac Brake branded oil is just Super Lube Synthetic oil, blind obediance, buying the specified oil from Pac Brake, is the result of a good marketing marketing plan.

Even the link on the Pac Brake web site connects to the material safety data sheet at Super Lube. The flash point is 428 degrees according to the manufacturer.

Just use the proper lube..REGARDLESS of which product you chose.... Pac Brake lube or Super lube...nothing else

And I suspect the temperature at the exhaust brake of a diesel under load could easily exceed that temperature-- after all, manifold temperatures just upstream can get over 1000 degrees F.

But, one can certainly choose to ignore factory recommendations-- true on just about anything.
