Extra Passenger

My daughter and I came up to the campground a day before the wife and older daughter. Around 5am I heard a noise. Didn't think much of it as I thought something was outside the RV. Then I heard another bang which was inside. I got up and flipped on a light only to find a mouse on the couch. I tried for about 20 minutes to coax it out the door with no luck.

Ended up just going back to bed. Texted the wife who brought some bait with her and the dog. Haven't seen the extra guest since the first night but we are keeping our eyes open.

Surprisingly, both my girls and wife have been good sports about the mouse. Probably because the feel the dog will alert them if it shows up in the middle of the night again.

I caught one in a trap in the storage area under the table bench seat while I was sitting there. I felt and heard alot noise and shacking and could not figure out what it was until I lifted the seat. It was a small mouse that was really shaking to get out of the trap!

  • I was inspecting our C one spring preparing for the season and I found where the little buggers had built a nest on top of the engine. If yours is parked for a good length of time as mine I'd advise checking for the little pests regularly. BTW it was parked in a garage but as we all know, mice can crawl under the narrowest openings.
  • Ugh!!! I hate mice. They have managed to find their way into every trailer we have ever had. Nothing like opening the closet door to make the bed and finding a pile of mouse poison they carried there to save for later. Then of course for the duration of the camping trip your nose smells" dead mouse" whether or not one is actually there. I hate mice!!!!
  • Pretty sure this one is a solo traveler. If not, I have plenty of bait for guest. Once I get home, the inside will get a thorough cleaning and inspection for damage. It took some toilet paper so it made a nest somewhere that I have to find. I think it took it under the sink near the water heater. At least that was where it kept wanting to go when I was trying to get it out the other night.
  • Mice chew on WIRES and carry dieseases. You won't be laughing when that happens.

They usually travel with a man and his daughter. :B

I caught one once using the toilet paper roll tube trick.. I made the bottom of the roll flat and put some peanut butter in the end of the tub. then position the toilet paper roll tube over the edge of the cabinet top with a large open trash can below.

The idea is the mouse will go out inside the tube to eat the peanut butter and the whole thing mouse and all will fall into the trash can. Then he can finish his meal...

It did work the one time I tried it...

Then I just carried Mr Mouse out to the edge of the woods and let him out. He probably beat me back to my trailer haha...
