f53 fuel pump

I have a 96 Damon Ultra sport with 25K miles on it . its been setting up for a few years and I would like to get it back on the road. after installing all new batteries I'm getting no fuel. so I have pulled the fuel tank and drained it. also found that the fuel pump was not working. after testing the new fuel pump before installing it and installing the tank I turned on the key and could hear the fuel pump for a short time. for what ever reason the new pump is now pumping any fuel. I have removed the tank and pump again and tested the wire plug at the pump and I am getting elec. at the pump but the pump will not come on. anyone have any ideas.

    Not sure how Ford wired them, on many GMs the fuel pump relay runs for a few seconds to pressurize the system, then shuts power off. The fuel pump runs on mine through the oil pressure gauge sending unit.
    I will try a site to see if I can see how your fuel pump gets power after initial charge.

    Only thing I saw was Ford has an inertia switch on some vehicles. F53 was not showing much for wiring diagrams. Did show several(three) fuses that are hot all the time. One feeds fuel pump relay with coil operated from ECM.

    JMHO. If I went through all the trouble of dropping my tank. I would have made sure the intake was clean, installed a new filter and installed an electric fuel pump.

    It is an electric pump. How did you wire it? I think there is an adapter when you convert to the new pump.

    I have heard that the collision safety switch can cause gremlins.

    FYI
    1. I did make sure that the intake and tank where both clean.
    2. I bought and installed a new factory fuel pump.
    3. I also bought the new adapter pigtail but it turned out that I didn't need it as my motor home was built later in the year and had the new one on it.
    4. no need to rewire anything it just plugged in, I tested it before installing it and the pump came on and worked when I first turned the key on.

    I assume by now that you have made certain that you have a good ground on the tank / pump. Also check the fuel pump relay. Otherwise, sounds like you have a defective pump. BTW, the pump normally will only operate for 1-2 seconds when you turn on the key; that's controlled by the ECM.

    Locate the oil pressure safety switch on the top of the engine at the rear.... Pull the connector off and put a jumper wire in the connector.... Try that for a few seconds... Your pressure switch may be bad....

    I didn't mean another in the tank. I meant install one near the tank and engine but not in the tank. You would never have to drop the tank again.
