Finish on wood cabinets

Be sure to remove all traces of wax or oils you may have used or experimented with.

What type of gloss do you have, High gloss, satin finish or a dull finish, Home Depot or any good home improvement store probably has what you need to touch up your cabinets. oooo steel wool and a good brush will do the trick ,go easy with the steel wool it will cut through the finish very quickly then your removing stain. Use a lint free cloth and a little solvent to remove dust or buy tack cloth.I Just refinished the kitchen table , took it down to the wood restained then used urathane , I took a cabinet door to the store to match color and finish, all products were oil based and solvent clean up.
Just a word of caution solvents , paints inside MoHo cut off H2o heater and fridge if on gas. Ventilate well.

I say a low grit sandpaper without hurting the stain. Hit it with lacquer from a distance. (2ft or so) Keep it up until it looks right. Pay attention to the gloss of the lacquer though.

Try Restore-A Finish first. It's available at Home Depot in several colors. Some of that stuff and a bag of 0000 steel wool has worked wonders for our RV woodwork.

OP. I guess the best option then for me is to take a door off and go to a local cabinet maker -- just happens to be one close to where we are camped!

Tiffin was still using solvent based lacquer on the 13's. I watched ours being built and talked with a number of the touch up folks as they were going over the inside of the 13 coach on the build line. Late December, 2012.

On a 2007 coach it may very well be one of the newer EPA required water based lacquer finishes instead of the older solvent based lacquer finish. Lacquer is still used because it dries quickly in the manufacturing process.

Can you contact your coach manufacturer? When I wanted to do some wood work in my former (and current) Tiffin Allegro Bus, I went to their woodshop. The guys there said sand the cherry cabinets with 220 grit paper and hit it with lacquer. Presto, exact match on either ding repair or new cabinet work. We have what's called Natural Cherry finish.

Most of the cabinets I have experienced have a poly type coat. Lacquer might be used on higher end productions. If you have a WoodCraft Store or Rocklers store or a specialty cabinet supply it would be worth a trip to take one door to their craftspeople and get suggestions for touchup on the finish.

Most cabinet doors are coated with a lacquer base finish after they are stained and sealed.
