If you can't keep them away, go to Harbor Freight and get an Electronic Fly Swatter.
Then have fun eliminating the annoying little flying things while you're sitting outside. ๐Ÿ™‚

I remember back as a kid we used them and had great success.

X2 on the fan to keep the mosquitoes away. We use an 12" metal fan (not too big, or too small) outside that reduces nuisance bugs. Not a perfect solution, but much better than my bourbon smelling like a deet or citronella cocktail. Plus, move it inside and sit it on the floor near the engine doghouse and it circulates air in the coach, thank you very much. Get a metal fan - the blades seem to be better balanced with reduced flex compared to the plastic versions. Amazon has a bunch for under $35.

A good fan if it is too windy to use a Thermacell.

A good smokey campfire....but it really makes everything, including your RV, smell like smoke. OFF makes an area fogger/spray that comes in a can you can try. I've had pretty good luck with that as well.

I want to read the answer to this one also. Please give all the particulars.

But my best use has always been citronella. It works great on mosquitoes. I got tired of all the body sprays (OFF). What works for some doesn't work for others.

Seems to be an old wives tale and despite being scientifically tested has never been proven. According to this article, bags of water with pennies actually attracted more flies in scientific tests.

DW hates citronella.

I have a propane based fogger, have yet to use it in a campground though....
