FRED with a rear small "garage"

Hello to all!

Thanks for the contributions on this site,I've read and learnt quite a lot by reading through all of the posts by all the helpful people here.

I've also spent quite a lot of time on youtube, google,RV sales web sites looking for a class A FRED with the small rear garage.

Looking for:
-FRED prefer.
-something smaller,say 28-32'
-years say from 2005 to 2012,up to $100k.
-prefer diesel, prefer Cummins but OK with International
-not fussy which side slide(s) are on,wall or not I don't care.
-not fussy about door location,layout.
-hopefully room to install a combo washer/dryer or has one
-prefer not having air brakes due to less maintenance and fooling about.
-single guy,to live in and travel around. Semi retired quite young.May pick up a GF along the way,who knows.

Why:
-don't really want a tow car,I can tow but would prefer not to have the extra drama.
-I'm used to driving a 21' Ford F350 Crew long box with a camper hanging 3' off the back plus another 2' with dirt bike carrier so I was at 26' and got around fine without a towed car.
-I have a Ducati motorcycle that would fit into the aft stowage-no tow car- and I'm Ok with maybe needing to remove one of the handlebars to fit.
-have mountain bike,paddle board,kayak,etc
-RED with the low pass throughs could take some of the stuff, maybe mountain bikes but not motorcycle.
-don't want the $$,$$$ Ducati motorcycle on a ramp on the hitch hanging off the back of the rig,RED nor FRED. Out of sight, out of mind.
-I've looked at "toy haulers" but they're bigger than what I need.

You could say the most important thing is that rear stowage.

I have figured out that if a unit has a bedroom slide it won't have a large aft stowage,so I can look through hundreds of pictures and quickly pick possibilities.

To date I have found:
-Damon/Thor Avanti 3106: The rear garage entry is 29" wide by 41" high. Flat all the way through, bike would squeeeeeeeze in and all would fit.

-Thor Serrano 31: The Z and V have the garage, the X doesn't (or whatever I may have them mixed up). But seems to have a hump in the middle sticking up,don't know if bike would fit.
Don't know the door size.

-Monaco Vesta: Has a large opening, but has a very large hump in the centre, looks about a foot high...bike likely wouldn't fit. Shame as I like the layout and looks.

-Gulf Stream Yellowstone: Looks like bike will fit and is flat all the way through. Don't know measurements of the opening but looks huge but this is a 36' coach.

I would take a gas one and MAYBE go up a couple feet if it meant being able to have my garage.

There is a bewildering array of brands, models, versions that it's so hard to screen though.

Would anyone know off hand of any more units that have what I am looking for especially with the rear garage?

And if anyone has one,if you could be so kind as to leasure the height and width of the rear opening for me?
I can let air out of the tires and squeeze into a 40" high opening.

I feel like a bit of a heel coming on here and asking, and unable to contribute much.
Thanks to all in advance for any assistance or tips you may have to give.

Regards

Dave

Garage ? or just a large storage space

Thor Serrano has rear storage with three doors, a large space with lots of room
but it is NOT a garage, you will never get a Motorized Vehicle in there
because of loading problems, the doors do NOT open at floor level

never mind just saw the "Ducati" mentioned
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Thanks for replies, but that Newmar at 39-40+ is just too big and though I can well afford it...too mucho dinero.

I can buy a Damon Avanti with room for my stuff AND have $50k left over from not buying the Newmar. Which ought to last me a few years.

Have looked in the Toy hauler section, but almost all of those links are for trailers, and the rest are for units much larger than I need.

Like I said,it has to be a 40" or so high opening and space,by about 26-30" wide opening and space for my Ducati to squeeze in.
I've looked at Super Cs,can't really find anything. Either the aft is designed to carry 2 quads,or they put the genset and furnace back there.

Thanks again,any other ideas?

What an excellent suggestion for the Original Poster. You just about checked off everything on his list.

I have never seen a 'side' toy hauler like that. I've seen where the rear opens or the sides will have drop down doors but not slides like that.... cool if everything checks out operationally.

Dick, did you miss that huge cover in the middle of the hallway?? I think you'll find it at night as you're headed to the bathroom in the dark ...:W...Dennis

What I found interesting is it's listed as a 43 footer with no tag axle. With the extra "space" in the rear, I would question the CCC.. That 350 will cause that rig to struggle out west......Dennis

I did a goggle search for the word 'FRED RV' to figure out what FRED stood for... Turned out to be a FRont Engine Diesel chassis...

Post makes alittle more sense to me now...

While bigger than you want, you could check out mid-engine diesels with a garage. Here's one here , a Newmar, and if you do a search on Travel Supreme mid-engine, you may find some for sale.

What was the question? ๐Ÿ˜‰
Being technical hobbyist I did follow all the ideas I could see with garage build-into motorhome.
About 20 years ago somebody made a prototype what was kind of rollback tow truck with a boat on it.
The truth is none of those ideas went past prototype.
Floating pushers seem to be the only idea who had more than 1 build.
I actually liked the idea of mid-ship garage, but that would allow only very low, sporty car with limited length.
Forget about taking our Jack Russels Terrriers for a sightseeing.
