Fresh Water Tank Removal

I have a 2003 Thor Hurricane 30Q that has developed a leak in the fresh water holding tank. I removed the bed and bed platform but the tank goes from side to side under the nightstands. There doesn't seem to be a way to get the tank out. Any ideas would help.

My guess you’ll have the first remove the night stands. Probably not as hard as it first looks. I had to replace a fresh water tank that was located under the galley. Had to remove the sink, the range, the counter top, shelf and the water pump. Once I got started it was pretty simple. It’s pretty intimidating at first glance but don’t let that scare you off.

  • Can you access the leak? Eternabond should make a near permanent repair.
  • I have a south wind and had a leak put red food coloring to find leak drilled a small hole at the leak, drained the water down applied 100% silicon and put a small screw in hole, put more silicon around screw ,let quire for 48 hr and never peeked again. That was 8 years ago,GOOD LUCK
  • When I removed mine it was from one of the outside bays. I had to remove the interior wall (the back of the bay) to gain access but it then slid right out (figuratively speaking). This was not a Thor, I am just trying to help you think outside your current expectations.
  • Most tanks are installed from beneath the RV. It may require removal of the cover material on the bottom of the RV to expose the tank mounting.

One of my buddies had a leak when his tank was more than 2/3 full. So he never filled beyond 2/3 tank rather than cut a hole in the bottom covering.
