GPS

I used to use a Laptop with Microsoft S&T and a dongle.

Lately I use my Android Phone and Google Maps.

Advantage Google or disadvantage depending is "Crowd sourcing" of info. They are actually tracking you as you move. not, as far as I know "Big brother style" but they are tracking traffic flow IF they see speeds on the freeway dropping rapidly (indicating a problem) They start sending warnings to folks upstream who may need to detour around said problem.

Alas. that can't be done by many (Receive only) systems. Google does it automatically. The downside. Some folks do not like being tracked. (Myself included but for me the benefits outweigh as they say).

Mine tells me to exit the freeway and get back on 2 miles later when going NB thru Las Vegas.

I have the Garmin RV760LMT with up to date maps. All I have to do is turn it on and it will get me lost. I never really trust it now. I use a trucker's atlas to plan my route and use the GPS to look ahead for diesel, food, etc. My phone has a better map program. The last time I was on I40 going through Oklahoma City it kept telling me I had to exit as there was a low clearance ahead (I'm under 12 feet high). I noticed the 18 wheelers were not exiting so I decided to take a chance but the Garmin kept telling me to exit. It even got to a point where it had a screen pop up that made me hit a button to confirm that I was ignoring the Garmin directions. Made it all the way to New Mexico and never saw a low bridge. It has done similar mis-directions many times but this was the craziest. I still use it when on the interstates to look for services at upcoming exits. My guess is if you program it to go to Alaska you'll probably find yourself heading south into Florida as it takes you around the world to Alaska. When I want to get lost I program the Garmin to head to Dallas, Texas so I can find all the dirt roads on the way. I never trust it any more but use the trucker's atlas and it has never been wrong. The Garmin was wrong many, many times. Can you tell I really don’t trust the Garmin?

If you want real versatility use a 10" android tablet with GPS sensor built in and the CoPilot RV app installed. You can program in your RV sizes for proper routing or use in car mode. Then use the tablet for other things. I've been using this setup for the past 5 years all over the USA and Canada without a problem no internet connection needed. Cost would be around $100 to $120 depending on the tablet.

Keep in mind that GPS units are small TVs with a quirky sense of humor.

I have the Garmin LMT760 and I got the optional WIRELESS camera. The camera interfaces with the Garmin GPS by bluetooth. I use the camera to line up with the fuel pump when I am alone in the coach. The camera is OK for that purpose but I would not use it as the back-up camera. I love the GPS as it has a large screen and has lifetime updates.

My coach is an 05 I was wondering if they make an updated backup camera screen that would have the GPS also?

I have a Garmin system in my boat that allowed me to add a camera to the input and it has a split screen option. I added a simple backup camera to the rear area of the boat, the boat has a cabin the camera allows me to view the cockpit area while fishing. I can see a rod take down with it. The camera is also handy when running to see what is behind me in case another vessel is going to pass.

It would be nice to have this in the MH but I hope to never need the depth finder and radar LOL. I would also like to upgrade the black and white camera.

No GPS is going to "know" what you're driving, they'll only know what you tell (program into) them.

The Garmin has a handy feature to switch between RV and regular car modes. Still have to program in the specifics of the RV.
