GTRV Conversions?

Does anyone have any experience with GTRV conversions? I did a search, but nothing came up. Here is their site:

  • GTRV page on Yelp has a couple recent good reviews, including one customer with a 2015 Ford Transit pop-top conversion. So presumably GTRV is still operating as a small custom conversion shop.

That Ford Transit pop-top appears to be very low profile - might even fit under a standard 7ft residential garage door. Sportsmobile and CCV (Colorado Campervan) pop-tops require significantly higher vehicle clearance.
  • Yes, there is some confusion here. GWV is now gone, with only the US and Canadian courts to likely pick up the pieces. There had been hope that some other manufacturer might have picked up their factory in Alabama, but nothing has happened as yet.

GTRV seems to be no longer in business based on their website, which hasn't had any updates for about 5 years with some of the linked pages going dead.

    They have filed for Bankruptcy.

That was Great West Van which made larger fixed-top Class B RVs, notably on the Sprinter chassis.

GTRV (Garagable Top RV) makes smaller pop-top campervans on domestic and minivan chassis along the lines of the classic VW Westfalia campers. GTRV is a small custom shop but to the best of my knowledge is still in business. It's totally unrelated to Great West / Sterling.

There is a GTRV owner over on the SportsmobileForum that seems happy with their rig.

Great West Van was bought by Sterling and moved to Alabama and is still functioning apparently.

GTRV seems to be a builder of custom van-based RVs although I have never heard of them before either.
  • I believe that there was a discussion on Sterling in the class B forum (http://www.classbforum.com).
